Privacy Policy for The Driver

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information to provide our ride scheduling services:

• Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, and address
• Profile Photo: Optional profile image you choose to upload
• Ride Information: Pickup and dropoff addresses, scheduled times, service preferences, and ride history
• Device Information: Push notification tokens to send you ride updates

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Schedule and coordinate rides between riders and drivers
• Send push notifications about ride status updates and reminders
• Display your profile to drivers assigned to your rides
• Improve our services

3. Camera and Photo Library

We request camera and photo library permissions to:

• Allow you to take or select a profile photo
• Display your profile image to drivers assigned to your rides

Profile photos are optional. We only access your camera or photo library when you choose to update your profile picture.

4. Location Data

We request location permission for the following purposes:

For Riders:

• Auto-fill your current address when booking a ride (optional convenience feature)
• Provide address suggestions via Google Places

Riders can manually enter addresses without granting location permission.

For Drivers:

• Pre-ride tracking: Starting 30 minutes before a scheduled pickup, we track your location to detect when you arrive at the pickup location
• In-progress tracking: During an active ride, we track your location to detect when you arrive at the dropoff location
• Smart reminders: Location data is used to send you timely reminders to start or end rides
• Rider notifications: When you arrive at the pickup location, we notify the rider that you have arrived

Background location: For drivers, we use background location tracking during the 30 minutes before pickup and during active rides. This allows us to send arrival notifications even when the app is not in the foreground. A persistent notification (Android) or location indicator (iOS) will be visible when tracking is active.

Data retention: We do not store location history. Location data is only used in real-time to detect arrivals and is not saved to our servers.

5. Google Calendar Integration

Our app offers optional integration with Google Calendar to help you manage your ride schedule. When you choose to connect your Google Calendar:

• What We Access: We request the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events scope, which allows us to create and modify calendar events in your Google Calendar
• How We Use It: We only create calendar events for your scheduled rides, including pickup times, locations, and ride details
• What We Store: We store an OAuth refresh token to maintain your calendar connection. We do not access or store any other calendar events or personal data from your Google account
• Disconnecting: You can disconnect your Google Calendar at any time from your profile settings. This will revoke our access and delete the stored refresh token

The Driver's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

6. Information Sharing

We share your information only:

• With drivers assigned to your rides (name, phone number, pickup/dropoff addresses)
• With organization administrators who manage your account
• When required by law

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

7. Data Security

We use Firebase's secure infrastructure to store and protect your data. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS).

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data through the app
• Update your profile information
• Request deletion of your account by contacting us
• Disconnect third-party integrations (Google Calendar)

9. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email.
